4/28/2014 The Iowa House and Senate approved a $986 million education budget that includes a four percent funding increase for the three Regent universities. An additional $2.625 million in special funding will allow UNI to freeze tuition for next academic year.

3/31/2014 Zachary Palmer was arrested after a shooting incident at Hidden Valley Apartments. Palmer fired a handgun into the air while standing on his apartment balcony, and then displayed the weapon in a threatening manner to bystanders.

2/17/2014 NISG campaigning has gotten off to a quick start. Candidates will have an open forum on February 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the Maucker Union Coffee House. Election polls will open online on February 25 and close on February 26.

2/6/2014 Bradley Williams was arrested on February 4 on charges of extortion. Williams filmed a sex tape and took nude photos of a woman. He later blackmailed the woman into giving him money and sexual acts. Bond is set at $10,000.
7 Censure decision will be made in June

2/3/2014 UNI is facing possible censure from the American Association of University Professors. The case against UNI comes from the university's decision to terminate dozens of majors, minors, and graduate programs in 2012, allegedly without consultation.
8 Readership program flourishes in 1st year

1/23/2014 The Collegiate Readership Program at UNI was created by Chris Miller and is funded by the Northern Iowa Student Government. This program allows students to keep up on current events and educate themselves through reading the paper.

5/3/2013 The Office of International Programs welcomed Roberto Matus to speak at UNI this past week. He currently serves as the deputy chief of mission of the Embassy of Chile minister counselor. His lecture was entitled "Chile: A Road to Development."
16 Board set to review student service fees

4/26/2013 The Board of Regents had their annual vote regarding changes to student service fees. Former NISG president, Jordan Bancroft-Smithe plans on publishing the allocations of these funds in the near future so students can be aware of the process.
