2/6/2022 LifeServe comes to UNI for blood donors for the Life Serve blood Center spring blood drive. The event was in collaboration between the Nonprofit leadership Alliance (NLA) and the Office of Community Engagement. Cedar Falls site supervisor Marena Williams emphasizes the importance of donating blood, that it can save up to three lives. Type O- is a universal blood type for anyone with A-,A+,B-,B+,AB- and AB+. Kathie Gayther, Lifeblood service reprehensive says that the demographic of donors are aging out and the need for younger donors is apparent, stating there may be a blood shortage by 2050; photo.

4/12/2021 On April 4, one person was injured on College Hill due to his own firearm discharging, however, this is not the first incident related to gun violence that has taken place on College Hill. Within the past five years, seven reports involving guns were reported. With the change in Iowa Law allowing less regulation regarding gun ownership, many fear that gun related incidents will become more common in the next few year; photo.

However, a survey has been sent out by the Student Health Center gauging interest in on-campus vaccinations to help with lowering the positivity rate on campus. The article talks about the Missouri Method, which emphasized a group approach to rehabilitation for teens in the juvenile justice system. 11/4/2019 Following President Nook's October 30th email to campus regarding the concerns of the UNI Racial and Ethnic Coalition (REC), members of the REC have launched their #UNIisnotanAlly campaign across campus and social media. The campaign was launched on November 1, 2019, and it shared videos of student's personal accounts and testimonies of experiencing racism at UNI. 8/29/2019 On 8/28/2019, the UNI Gender and Sexuality Services held an event at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center called the Rainbow Reception. The Rainbow Reception was a way to welcome LGBTQ+ community members to UNI and to help learn more about the community. Among the many booths (both political, religious, and academic) there was a speaker presentation that announced a scholarship opportunity called the Thomas M. Davis Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship would be awarded to a UNI student that identifies as trans-gendered; photo.
