3/2/2020 Day one of the indoor track and field Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) was held in the UNI-Dome. On the men's team, six advanced to the finals in five different events: 60 meter dash - Isaiah Trousil, Tayshaun Cooper, Eli Hicks; 60 meter hurdles - Jak Sumners; 200 meter dash - Isaiah Trousil, Tayshaun Cooper, Eli Hicks; 800 meter dash - Wal Khat; mile - CJ May. On the women's team, six advanced in three events: 60 meter hurdles - Hannah Schau, Megan Hudson; 200 meter dash - Taylor Raines, Tyler Gray; 800 meter - Dianna Slight, Katie Nimrod. Six additional athletes received all-conference honors: Chase Van Sant, Jack Sumners, Kyler Yodts, Darius King, Isabelle Holtzen, and Cam Bauer. 2/20/2020 The Black Student Union (BSU) hosted the panel "Black and Educated" in the Maucker Union Ballroom on February 18. Panelists, all UNI employees, included Ieshia Brown, academic advisor for Student Support Services; Dr. Mickye Johnson, director of the Upward Bound program; Dr. Irenea Walker, assistant professor of elementary education; Dr. Shuaib Meacham, associate professor of literacy, and Dr. Robert Welch, director of academic advising in the College of Education. Panelists shared their experiences and challenges as Black educators, described UNI's environment for people of color, and discussed ways that UNI students, especially white students, can contribute to a positive shift on campus; photo.

2/10/2020 Junior art history major Katelyn Brockmeyer is an intern at Imagining America, which promotes community engagement through arts, humanities, and design. Brockmeyer is facilitating presentations on various topics in art, and presented on black artists in history during Black History Month, including Kihinde Wiley, Betye Saar, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Maya Angelou, and Faith Ringgold, among others. UNI graduate and curator for the Waterloo Center for the Arts Chawne Paige also spoke, focusing on the center's collection of Haitian art.

2/6/2020 Technical difficulties resulted in Democratic caucus result delays. As of printing, Pete Buttigieg narrowly led the state, followed by Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Joe Biden. UNI hosted two locations. In the West Gymnasium, Sanders received four delegates, Warren three, and Buttigieg two. In Maucker Union, Sanders received three delegates, and Warren, Buttigieg, and Klobuchar two. Student Erin Thomason, who served as the precinct chair for the West Gym, discussed the technical difficulties they encountered.

2/6/2020 On February 3, the UNI Muslim Students Association celebrated World Hijab Day and encouraged people of all backgrounds and religions to wear them. Founded in 2013 by Nazma Khan, World Hijab Day has been celebrated on February 1 in over 140 countries. 2/3/2020 UNI's first "Arctic Day" was held on January 31 in conjunction with the launch of University of the Arctic (UArctic) and the ARCTICenter on campus. The center held a launch and information in Rod Library followed by scholar Tatiana Egorova's presentation "The Peoples of Frozen II: the Saami Culture in the Arctic" in the Innovative Teaching and Technology Center (ITTC). Its goal is to provide research and education about the North. REC summarized their formation and launch of the #UNIisnotanAlly campaign, directed at what they viewed as a failure of UNI's administration to act on goals to combat racism. REC took questions and invited students of color to share their experiences.
