Constitution Day Address confronts slavery's legacy Legaspi--Sofia (Student--2018), Rublaitus--Lindy (Student--2019) Northern Iowan 116:6, p.01 |
9/9/2019 | Investigative Reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones came to UNI to speak at the Constitution Day Adress. Her speech promoted the 1619 Project and spoke about the serious issue that America faces concerning racism and the legacy of slavery. She pointed out certain laws that were in place years before her birth that hindered her parents and she pointed out the hypocrisy of how African-Americans were treated in the founding of America to present day and the liberties they and other minorities are denied due to their skin tone, sex, occupation, and sexual orientation. |
