Pruis is an assistant editor of the publication "The Speech Teacher," and author of the article, "Why Teach Speech in the Elementary School?"

The ability to speak is of such importance to the child, both now and later in his adult life, that its development must not be left to chance, Pruis said. He continues by stating that definite provisions should be made for a planned speech program.
