40 Mrs. Fanny Mowry Leversee Has thirty-two years of service in the Department of Pathology of the University of Minnesota's medical school. She joined the Minnesota staff in 1907 and serves as clerk-stenographer.
41 Mrs. Kate A. Bourne The former Kate Abraham works at the San Francisco Hospital and expects to be there "until my working days are over."
42 Mrs. Lizzie Ellis Williamson, Mrs. Theresa Williamson Ebers, and Betty Ebers Lizzie Ellis Williamson has been followed at Teachers College by her daughter, Theresa Williamson Ebers, Des Moines, and a granddaughter, Betty Ebers, who next fall will be a senior majoring in physical education.
43 Mrs. Roy L. Palmerton The former Jennie Harper is now living in Nevada, Iowa, with her husband, who is a retired minister. Jennie remembers when Henry Sabin spoke on personality and environment--just those two words stuck and grew.

56 Ebelene Iblings Has been teaching in Seattle for eleven years. Ebelene will arrive in New York City, July 4, after five months of traveling around the world. Her itinerary included Hawaii, the Philippine Islands, the Far East, the East Indies, and Europe.

58 James Harold Shoemaker For several years a professor in the graduate school of Brown University; has been granted a six months' leave of absence. He is making a labor study in the Hawaiian Islands.
59 Kathryn Westervelt Is teaching in the grades in Billings, Montana, where she resides.
60 M. O. Cowan Has completed his sixth year as head of the Trade and Industrial Arts Department of the LeMars Public Schools. His plant is larger than usual, occupying one entire building.
61 Mary D. Reed Is the co-author of an article, "Developing an Experimental Unit in Social Studies," in the January issue of the Teachers College Journal. The article was written in collaboration with Anna L. Carle.
62 Mr. and Mrs. Clifford L. Wright, Blanche E. Squier The former Blanche E. Squier and husband Clifford now reside in Long Beach, California. He is head of the Biology Department of Long Beach Junior College.
63 Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Kaltenbach He and his wife, the former Dorothea Peters, whom he married in Berlin, will soon return to Germany, where he will complete his final examinations for the Ph. D. degree in German literature.

70 H. P. Thomas, Gladys M. Cocking The former Gladys M. Cocking, and her husband H. P., have a "believe it or not" family. Their three children, all born on wedding anniversaries, were born at the same hour--11 a.m., and have the same middle initial, "A."
71 Irvin R. Vaughn Has been employed since January as chief license clerk in the Motor Vehicle Department, Pierre, South Dakota, where he resides.
72 Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Parkinson Live in Sac City, where Clarence owns the Artificial Ice Company and she manages their grocery store there. They have a small daughter, Jean Marie.
73 Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson, Ethel June Almquist The former Ethel June Almquist and husband, George have recently purchased a 200 acre farm near Stanton. They have two children, Duane, and Genevieve.
74 Mrs. E. H. Schill The former Marion Sells married Emerson Schill in 1930. They have one son, John Emerson, and they reside in Sioux City. Emerson is the display advertising manager on the Sioux City Journal. She had taught two years at Otho, one year at Fort Dodge.
75 Mrs. Francis J. Hanify The former Mabel Gary and Francis J. Hanify were married Sept. 16, 1930, and are the parents of two children, Gary and Barbara. They are residing in Toledo.
76 Mrs. Zatha Pilson Weems Has written a poem, "Ploughed Under," which has been published in the March issue of American Prefaces, literary magazine published by the University of Iowa. She resides in Des Moines.
77 Myrtle E. Haase Residing in Afton, Wyoming, is now public health nurse in "beautiful and historic Star Valley, south of the Teton Mountains in western Wyoming." She has taught pediatric nursing in New York City and principles of public health in Kentucky.

83 Edith A. Thompson Commenced her work as senior first grade teacher in the Riverview School in Sioux City, January 30. She previously taught at Newton.
84 Genevieve G. Schultz Is a social worker with the California State Department of Social Welfare at Los Angeles.

89 Mrs. Arnold Schmadeke The former Elva R. Sours and her husband are now living in Clarksville; married May 29, 1936, and have one son, James Roy. Before her marriage, she taught six years in Greeley, Shell Rock, and Vinton.
90 Mrs. Irnie J. Peterson Not long after her marriage, the former Irnie J. Bengston suffered the loss of her husband. She now resides at her parental home in Cherokee.
91 Murray S. Spurgin Is connected with the Allstate Insurance Company, in the claim department, in Chicago. Previously, he practiced law at Indianola. His wife is the former Emma Adelaide Ports, daughter of Howard T. Ports, of Osceola.
92 Phillip L. Shutt Is attending Nashotah House Seminary, Nashotah, Wisconsin. He is in charge of the summer work at the seminary, and is holding church services on Sundays in a nearby mission. He plans to complete his work in June of next year.
93 Robert L. Ebel Teacher in the Edison Institute High School, Dearborn, Mich., reported that he is taking two groups of students to the Edison Institute exhibit in the New York World's Fair. He is one of two instructors assigned with this delegation during the exposition
94 S. Ward Chambers, Ellen L. Clausen The former Ellen L. Clausen and husband Ward have a daughter and live in Des Moines. Ward has been appointed junior meteorologist for the State of Iowa, and resigned his position as superintendent of Viola Consolidated School.

102 Emerald L. Olson, Nellie Gowin Married to the former Nellie Gowin. They have two children, David and Marilyn. Emerald will begin his second year teaching science at Clarion High School in September. He also expects to attend the University of Iowa summer session for eight weeks.
103 Esther Bley Is the accompanist and assistant in the studios of Alta Turk, well-known teacher of voice in Los Angeles, California. During the spring Esther accompanied Alta Turk on a concert tour through New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas.
104 Helen Daubenberger Student from 1930 to 1933 is now employed in the office of the Argus Press in Chicago, where she resides.
105 Helen Phelps Is now working in the office of the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.
106 Lois Schwab Has been teaching at the Richland Consolidated School, Orient, and writes that other graduates were her colleagues. These are Lilah Van Fleet, Henry Loats, and Henrietta Loats.
107 Mrs. Harold Miller The former Margot Musser visited the alumni office recently. Her home is at West Union.
108 Roger A. Prior Is a member of the summer teaching staff of Western State Teachers College, Kalamazoo, Mich. He has been serving as assistant professor of geography at Mississippi State College since September, 1937. He spent six weeks in Mexico and Christmas in Cuba.
109 Rosamond L. Rathbone Is teaching commercial subjects in Clarion High School. She recently made a survey of the occupational possibilities in Clarion, and this survey was listed in Balance Sheet for December, 1938. She studies summers at the University of Chicago.
110 Roy A. Vinall Was recently promoted from the Denver, Colo., office of the Illinois Central Railroad to the position of Traffic Agent at Salt Lake City, Utah. This promotion followed the one from Waterloo to Denver. He was formerly business manager of the College Eye.
111 Russell E. Sohner Living in Milwaukee; has been a casualty underwriter for the Milwaukee branch of the Travelers Insurance Company.

120 Freddie Feldman, Dorothy Logan Freddie Feldman is accompanist for stage show singers at Randini's Club, Wilshire District, Los Angeles, Calif. Dorothy Logan is soloist in the First Methodist Church, Los Angeles. Charles Schaerges is playing French horn in the 20th Century Fox symphony.
121 Glenn D. Smith Is employed in the office of the Coca Cola Co. in Susanville, Calif. He was a campus visitor recently.
122 Jerome Cross Began work in the Industrial Actuarial Division, Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., New York City. He distinguished himself at this College and at Iowa by earning straight "A's" in all his courses.
123 Julia M. Ames Married Charles J. Darsee of Martelle, Iowa. They reside in Martelle. She taught second grade at Marion, Iowa, for five years.

125 Maxine B. Baker Married Russell W. Holmes, a druggist in Steamboat Rock on June 11, 1938. Maxine taught four years at Steamboat Rock.
126 Mrs. Cecil Atkinson The former Lena Enarson married Cecil Atkinson on December 17, 1938. He is an inspector with the Iowa State Highway Commission. Lena had taught primary grades in Stuart and third grade in Red Oak for three and one-half years.

133 Florence Roden Married Wilbur Powell, April 30, 1938. Before marriage she taught two years in the Mondamin Consolidated School. They are living in Orson, where he is a car salesman.
134 Frances M. Miller Married Robert J. Maxwell of Deep River, on May 22, 1938. Prior to her marriage she taught seven years at Hartwick, near Brooklyn, Cooper, and at Carson. They are now living on a farm near Deep River.
135 Frances Riney Married Claude Lowe, of Chicago, Ill., March 11. Claude is employed by Associated Electrical Laboratories, Chicago, where the couple is now living. Frances was the assistant personnel manager of Peck's department store in Kansas City.
136 Gladys A. Biegler Married Frank A. Clark on October 15, 1938. They reside in Des Moines. Frank is employed by the Register and Tribune. Gladys taught at Algona previous to her marriage.

138 Helen Pauline Stricker Married Jack Ross on July 27, 1938. They reside in Oskaloosa. She taught the primary grades at Jewell prior to her marriage.

165 Alois L. Steidl Died on January 1, 1939, at his home in Lang, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was born in Moravia in 1872. He left the teaching profession in about 1903 and entered the banking business, moving to Canada in 1906. He was village overseer in Lang.

169 L. Harold Callender Superintendent of the St. Charles schools for the past five years, died at Boone, on March 19. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Jorgine Callender, and one daughter, Lillian, a student at Drake University. Lillian is a teacher in the Liberty Center.
170 Mrs. Alfred C. Ellis The death of the former Anna M. Fletcher, of Alderwood, Washington, was reported by her husband.
171 Mrs. Donald A. Nasby The former Charlotte J. Hilland died June 21, 1936, in Los Angeles, Calif. She is survived by her husband and a daughter, Dona Ann.
172 Mrs. Edna Poor Shutt Died in the People's Hospital, Independence, March 24, after a month's illness. She was 63. She had worked at the Teacher's College. Her husband had been an Episcopal pastor in Independence, Des Moines, Mankato Minn., and Chicago, where he died in 1921.
173 Mrs. Edward W. Magee The former Mary A. Boyle died in Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, March 13, at the age of 64. Her condition became critical during the year before her death. Her husband is a druggist in Dunkerton.
174 Mrs. Lucian Peddicord The former Malvie Hanson and infant son died January 28, at Ft. Dodge. She was born August 22, 1908, and married Lucian on July 19, 1937. She lived the greater part of her life in Ortho, where she was buried.
