1 ISTC name changes July 4 The name of the Iowa State Teachers College is changed to the State College of Iowa after a ruling by the General Assembly and Board of Regents that the institution could broaden its curriculum to include students seeking liberal arts degrees.
2 ISTC students appear in ships program The department of social science sponsors the European Study Tour, where participants are to spend nine weeks studying in Western Europe and Russia, preceded by a talent show aboard the Empress of Canada.
3 ISTC summer play announced A cast of alumni, and undergraduate and graduate students has been selected for the summer play, "Candida". Mrs. Charlotte Lawton and Caryl Middleton are selected to play the main roles.
4 Local teacher wins ISTC scholarship Area teachers are granted scholarships for their participation in the eight-week Summer Program on Asia. The program is sponsored by the department of social science, and is directed by Professor Nathan Talbott. Scholarship recipients listed.

6 Okinawan art display to open at ISTC The department of art sponsors an exhibition of eighty Okinawan scrolls, pottery, and textiles in the Arts and Industries building in cooperation with the Summer Program on Asia.
