1	Extension summer short course to be offered in Charles City	Don Wiederanders instructs a short summer course on the instruction of arithmetic in Charles City, where twenty teachers from the area have been enrolled.
2	Indian student receives first specialist degree granted by State College of Iowa	The first Specialist Degree in Education is awarded to Jagdish Goyal, who is the first member of his family to receive a degree from a United States college.
3	Manion appointed SCI Associate Physical Plant Director	Melvin Manion is placed as the new Associate Director of the Physical Plant, as approved by the Board of Regents. Manion is to replace E. E. Cole as Director of the plant as Cole reaches Emeritus status on July 1, 1962.
4	Moscow University shows Soviet belief in education	Moscow University stands as the emobdiment of the Soviet belief in science and education. The university stands as the second tallest building in Europe, next to the Eiffel Tower. Students spend ten hours per day in lectures and two hours studying.
5	SCI dean announces new faculty members	William C. Lang announces new faculty appointments for the fall semester. Robert W. Johnson is set to replace George Huys, Carol Koehmstedt will be the new assistant librarian at the department of teaching, Donald hill will replace Dale Johansen.
6	SCI dean of students explains national defense loans	Dean Paul F. Bender explains the role of National Defense student loans in financing a college education. He states that parents and students alike must accept responsibility for the cost of an education with relying too heavily on loans.
