1 90 percent of UNI students remain to finish course work Some students concerned enough about the situation in Southeast Asia that they could not complete final exams or term papers. Students given the choice to drop classes or take their present grade. The majority will finish classwork.
2 Janesville High School senior wins UNI Alumni Merit Scholarship Emily Shere named winner of the $100 scholarship. She is one of thirty-nine high school seniors to win the award.
3 Regents approve 'closed door' visitation policy at UNI Students will be allowed to entertain persons of the opposite sex in their rooms with the doors closed. Each hall's student governing body will determine the hours of the "closed door" policy.
4 Regents approve Minorities Center plan for UNI Board of Regents approved a plan for the development of an Ethnic Minorities Cultural and Educational Center.
5 Regents approve UNI exchange program with South Carolina State A faculty-student exchange program with the primarily black South Carolina State will occur in September.
6 Regents approve UNI operating budget for 1970-71 A largely "hold the line budget" of a little over sixteen million dollars has been approved.
7 Regents name new UNI department head Edwin J. Weber is the new head of the department of Business Education and Office Administration. His appointment will be effective at the beginning of the 1970 fall semester.
8 Special open house of UNI Museum announced The Museum will be open 2-5pm on Saturday, May 16, in conjunction with the Alumni Reunion. Public is invited to attend the last weekend open house until the fall.
9 UNI student receives awards for film Ted Samore wins three awards at the Iowa City Refocus 8/Super 8 Film Festival. Samore describes his film as a personal art film that shows a child's view of war.
10 UNI Symphony Orchestra concert to be given as planned The concert scheduled for the Music Hall will proceed as planned. The public is invited to attend.
