1 Brindley debate tournament expected to draw 500 to Uni Friday, Saturday (October 30-31) The Brindley High School Tournament is the oldest forensis tournament in Iowa. Contestants will compete in debate, extemporaneous speaking, original oratory, dramatic and humorous interpretation, impromptu speaking and duo acting.
2 Fiction writer to present reading of his works at UNI Wednesday (October 28) Curtis Harnack will read from his works of fiction.
3 State DECA officers elected at UNI Three hundred twenty high school seniors attended the meeting to the Iowa Distributive Education Clubs of America. Officers elected.
4 UNI student works at National Center for Disease Control Jim Pruckler, a senior biology student, has worked as a coop student at the National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames and the National Center for Disease Control in Atlanta.
5 Visiting adjunct prof, novelist to read from his works at UNI Monday (November 2) Chester Aaron will read from adult writings in the Communication Arts Center. His works have been nominated for the National Book Award, the Pulitzer Prize and twice for the Caldecott Medal.
