1 'Waterloo's black history' topic for UNI history series Feb. 4 Professors Ruth Bluford Anderson and Ada Tredwell conducted a series of lectures on black history in Waterloo from 1900 to 1940. The lectures were sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta, the Historical Association, and the Department of History.
2 Activist/comedian Dick Gregory to headline UNI Black History Month Dick Gregory, comedian and human rights activist, performed in the Auditorium to kick off the Black History Month activities. Other activities include a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., musical performances, poetry, and a raffle by Alpha Kappa Alpha.
3 UNI Black History Month celebration Black History Month celebrations were kicked off with a performance by comedian Dick Gregory in the Auditorium Building. The events were sponsored by the Ethnic Minorities Cultural and Educational Center.
4 Workshop to help students cope with stress and change to be offered by UNI A workshop on stress management, effective discipline, and active listening for K-12 teachers was held at Montezuma High School. The workshop was instructed by three professors, and sponsored by the Office of Continuing Education and Special Programs.
