1 Applications now available for UNI Pettit scholarships in journalism Students planning a career in communications with a journalism minor begin applying for two-hundred dollar Pettit scholarships. Applicants require six hours of credit in journalism, and must submit samples of their work.
2 Colburn to discuss 'Photographing America' in Feb. 10 'Art a la Carte' at UNI Professor Richard Colburn discussed his work in photography in the Gallery of Art as part of the 'Art a la Carte' program. Colburn's projects were funded by the Research Award from the Graduate College.
3 Free tax assistance offer by UNI Accounting Club, beginning Monday (Feb. 9) Low income individuals were given free income tax assistance from accounting students through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. The Accounting Club met in Seerley Hall with head of the program, Professor Gaylon Halverson.
4 UNI debate team ranks first in district, ninth in nation The university debate team completed the National Debate Tournament in ninth place out of the one-hundred and six schools who participated. The eight-member team was coached by Professor Neil Phillips.
5 UNI political science department sponsors annual spring break 'Week in Washington' Professor Allen Hays lead a tour of Washington, where students met with members of congress, committee staff members, and top administrators. Transportation was organized by the Department of Political Science.
6 Unique program for undergraduates in markeing research offered at UNI, one of few in the nation Professors Dennis Clayson and Steven Corbin outline the importance of marketing research experience for marketing majors. Students must complete two to three research projects for local businesses, keeping them ahead of students from other colleges.
