2 Seatbelt safety, new laws, standards for driver education are among topics at the annual UNI Safety Education Conference May 1 (Friday) Professors Gregory Stefanich, Ivan Eland, and Loren Muench preside over the twenty-ninth Safety Education Conference in the Education Center. Topics discussed include seatbelts, safety laws and standards, and costs of traffic violations.
3 Six awarded full-tuition art scholarships at UNI The Department of Art's Scholarship Day ended with the awarding of full-tuition art scholarships to six area high school students. Forty-four of the two-hundred students attending the event participated in the competition. Includes a list of recipients.

5 UNI Marlins synchronized swim team to present show April 23-25 The Marlins Synchronized Swim Team, directed by Jill Ranucci, presents its annual show in the East Pool. The show will be themed after Disney's "It's a Small World", with performances inspired by various cultures from across the globe.
6 UNI students sponsor world hunger panel, food drive, Wednesday-Friday (April 22-24) The Folk Dancers and International Affairs Organization sponsor a food drive for the Cedar Valley Food Bank, and a panel discussion on world hunger in Maucker Union. Panelists include Professors Donna Maier and Jerry Stockdale.
