1 'Way Up V' to offer 'Connections for the Future' Nov. 5-6 in Cedar Rapids Professors Patricia Geadelmann, Constantine Curris, and Casey Mahon participate in the "Connections for the Future" women's conference. 3 Harlan native recipient of Iowa Communication Association award from University of Northern Iowa Professor Kenneth E. Anderson is given the Alumni Recognition Award at the Iowa Communication Association Convention in Ames. Anderson graduated from Harlan High School in 1951, and earned a master of arts degree from UNI in 1955.

6 Two University of Northern Iowa alumni awarded at Iowa Communication Association convention Leola Ham and Professor Kenneth Andersen are honored at the Iowa Communication Association Convention. Ham received the ICA Citation for her work in the High School Speech Association, and Andersen was given the Alumni Recognition Reward.
7 UNI student Marla Schmidt receives annual scholarship for hearing impaired The five-hundred dollar Lions Club Annual Scholarship for Hearing Impaired Students is given to Marla Schmidt. To qualify, applicants must be a hearing impaired junior or senior with a grade point average above 3.0.
8 UNI students plan haunted house, Halloween costume party for children Oct. 29 Children living in the University Apartments are invited to join community recreation students at their haunted house and costume party to celebrate Halloween.
9 UNI's Department of Earth Science to offer astronomy open houses this fall Stephanie Skinner coordinates an open house for the UNI Observatory, held in McCollum Science Hall. The open house will include a slide show presentation, and a view of the fall sky through a telescope.
10 University of Northern Iowa Parents' Weekend Oct. 30 - Nov. 1; Theatre, open houses, football offered Parents are given the chance to learn about campus life through Parents Weekend activities, sponsored by the Parent Association. Activities include a performance in the Strayer-Wood Theatre, coffee in Maucker, and a Bob Byrnes concert in the Campanile.
