1 More than 600 U. S. educators and school officials to attend 12th annual Midwest Teacher Recruiting The Overseas Placement Service for Educators recruitment fair is held in the Education Center. Over six-hundred educators interview for teaching placements in Asia, Europe, Africa, and South and Central America.
2 Northern Iowa individual events team places third in MAFL tournament on home ground; 23 schools attend Teams from twenty-three schools visit UNI campus for the Mid-America Forensics League Tournament. Northern Iowa's individual events team places third, behind Bradley University and the University of Wisconsin.
3 Plight of handicapped students, adult children of alcoholics is concern of Northern Iowa's Daun Anderson Daun Anderson works with handicapped students to identify ways that the University can accommodate their needs. In addition to counseling the physically handicapped, Anderson leads "Adult Children of Alcoholics".
4 United Way Information Fair and blood drive to be held on the University of Northern Iowa campus Feb. 9; Food drive planned throughout week Cathy McRoberts acts as spokesperson for the United Way Information Fair to be held in Maucker Union. A canned food drive is held for the Cedar Valley Food Bank. Sigma Alpha Epsilon organizes a blood drive in University Hall.
5 University of Northern Iowa to offer two Tom Pettit scholarships to journalism students NBC's Tom Pettit offers two two-hundred dollar scholarships to students of journalism. Previous recipients of the awards include Andrea Zhiss, Rodney Reicks, Elizabeth Bingham, Lynn Olson, Katherine Thompson, and Linda Balk.
