1 'Mathcounts' competition to pit Iowa's junior high 'mathletes' at UNI Feb. 20 The Department of Industrial Technology and Iowa Engineering Society sponsor the sixth annual "Mathcounts" competition in the Industrial Technology Center. The competition was created in response to dropping math performance in pre-college students.
2 Black History Month activities are continuing at the University of Northern Iowa The Ethnic Minorities Cultural and Educational Center sponsors a tribute to African American theater and a "Soul Food Dinner" held in the Northern Iowa Commons. Other activities include slideshow presentations on black history.
3 National tour of Broadway hit musical "Purlie" to include Northern Iowa performance Feb. 20 (Saturday) The Ethnic Minorities Cultural and Educational Center sponsors a staging of the award winning musical comedy "Purlie". The performance is held in the Auditorium building as a part of the University's Black History Month activities.
4 University of Northern Iowa Library offers portable computers for student use; Computer labs added on campus Computer labs are installed into the Education Center, the Commons, and the Industrial Technology Center in addition to three existing labs. Twelve new laptop computers are made available for checkout in the library.
