1 'Transition and survival' theme for biennial meeting of Midwest Conference on Social Work Education, hosted Thursday & Friday (April 7-8) by UNI The Midwest Conference on Social Work Education is held in the Cedar Falls Holiday Inn, where social work educators participate in a series of workshops coordinated by Professor Vincent Faherty.
2 Annual Art Scholarship Day competition at Northern Iowa to award six high school students High School Art Scholarship Day is held in Kamerick Art Building, where two hundred high schoolers compete for financial aid. The event features art workshops by faculty members, a speech by photographer Holly Roberts, and the Juried Art Exhibition.
3 Black Hawk Gem and Mineral Society to hold spring show and demonstration at the University of Northern Iowa museum on April 10 The Museum hosts the annual Black Hawk Gem and Mineral Society demonstrations of gem cutting, tumbling , and faceting. The show is open to the public, free of charge.
4 Linda Allen, a feminist singer/songwriter to perform at Northern Iowa April 13 Folk signer, Linda Allen, performs in the Royal Oak Room of Maucker Union. The show is sponsored by the Union Policy Board, and is open to the public.
