1 As the lawn burns...now showing in your own backyard. Ron Camarata says water can work a lot like fertilizer during this time of the year and there are a number of things that can be done to improve lawns and get a jump start on spring.
2 Finding a financial planner...Who do you trust? Finding a reputable and qualified planner takes some homework. Millions of dollars have been swindled from people who thought they were dealing with a legitimate investment planner.
3 Is your television or radio on the blink? Blame it on sunspots. Tom Hockey says in a few years earth will be bombared with solar sunspot energy which means problems with electronic communications will occur.
4 One more reason to be a couch potato¿it's national cable month. Joseph Marchesani says cable TV systems are growing, but have bot yet reached their full potential.
5 There are computers in our classroom but they don't compute. Instructors lack a full understanding of the computers' capabilities and of how they might be used more effectivly in the classroom.
6 University of Northern Iowa to offer at Calmar this fall. Listed are the three courses offer at Northeast Iowa Technical Institute: "Workshop: Strategies for Teaching, Writing and Reading Together," "Topics in Mainstreaming Hanicapped Learners," and "Philosopy of Education."
7 University of Northern Iowa to offer courses at Marshalltown. "Dianostic Teaching of Reading and Language Arts," "Home-School Relationships," "Human Relations," "Workshop: Teaching Mathematics for the Year 2000, K-8." Iowa Valley Coummunity College will be the site of the four courses.
