1	Many programs and special events planned for Northern Iowa Museum grand opening, Sept. 24-25.	The grand opening theme is "University Museum - A Window on the World." Several special family events planned. Vistors can become "paleontologists" for the day and discover what inside special museum rocks, make animal foot prints, dinosaur stationary.
2	Northern Iowa receives approval for Educational Opportunity Center.	The Center will receive nearly half a million dollars over the next three years in a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Services provided will to be to collect and disseminate academic and financial aid information.
3	Northern Iowa enrollment pushes figure toward the limit.	New freshman increased 7.3%, new transfer increased 12.6%. Fall enrollment is 11472 and enrollment limitation is 11500. Curris told faculty, "The strong enrollment attests to your good work. If progress continues, we should consider lifting the cap."
4	One-room school booth to be at National Dairy Cattle Congress.	Staff at the booth will distribute questionnaires to people who have either taught in or attended a one-room school. Renovation is under way to return the school to it's early 20th century state.
5	University of Northern Iowa counseling center to offer 'Welcome' for non-traditional students.	Luncheon is designed to help new students become acquainted with one another.

Bries has spent the last year helping unpack, classify and catalogue the Museum's anthropology collection, getting the Museum ready.
