1 2nd Annual Clothing Drive for Metro Clothes Closet next week at Northern Iowa. Clothing Drive will be held on October 3-7. More than two dozen drop off sites have been arranged and notices sent to all employees and posted on campus. All faculty, student and staff are invited to particpate in the drive.
2 English scholar to speak on University of Northern Iowa campus Tuesday (Oct. 4) Robley Wilson will present a reading from a selection of his fictional works. A question and answer series will follow his presentation. Wilson was recently seclected as a University Distinguished Scholar for his poems and short stories.
3 Northern Iowa political science department to host Don Redfern for a 'Meet the Candidates' session Oct.4 Don Redfern, the Republican candidate for the 3rd District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, will be making a campign speech open to the public.
4 Second place sweepstakes finish for Northern Iowa individual events team opens season at MAFL Tournament. A 12 member individual events team from UNI finished second at the opening of the Mid-America Forensic League. Ryan Siskow earned first place in informative speaking. Placing sixth for UNI was Doug Staudt. Kevin Gilbertson earned three place finishes.
5 State Board of Regents President to address Northern Iowa faculty Monday (Oct. 3) Marvin Pomerantz, will address the faculty of the University of Northern Iowa, during a Faculty Meeting, scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Strayer-Wood Theatre.
6 The Phillips Brothers to be thrid performer of Northern Iowa's Comedy Club series. The Phillips Brothers, who refer to their show as "Party Comedy": a setting where everyone simply has a good time, use a special blend of magic, juggling and comedy to entertain their audiences. This comedy team has preformed all over the Midwest.
7 University of Northern Iowa Volksmarch Sunday (Oct. 2) Sponsered by the UNI "Panther Trackers" Volkssport Club, the volksmarch is a non-competitive walk around and through the scenic UNI campus. The event is open to the public. Goal is to promote physical fitness and good health.
