Glenda Riley says Iowa was one of the first 'divorce mills' in the 1840s and 1850s because it had such liberal laws on divorce, family and women. People from all over the country came to Iowa to get a divorce.
5 Martians on the march send the nation into a panic!!! 50th anniversary of "War of the Worlds." Remake of the radio program is being made. Carl Jenkins says the radio show was one of the first examples of the power of radio and the orginal broadcast is still popular, and often requested every October 30.

7 Seventy-six trombones soon will sound brassier than ever. In a recent visit to UNI, President of the West German Company , Gerhard Meinl says making tubas, trombones and trumpets by hand allows manufacturers to create the 'right sound.'
