2 Northern Iowa Alumni Association elects new officcers, board members. Mimi Kingsbury, president, Kate Murphy, president-elect; Lee Rainey, vice president, Gary Shontz, treasurer; and Noreen Hermansen, secretary. New board members: Joy Corning, Paul Weaver, Dale Gootee.
3 Northern Iowa individual events team captures second place at Mankato tournament. Twenty-three teams entered the competition. UNI students placed in many events.
4 Northern Iowa Political Science Department to host Dave Nagle in a 'Meet the Candidates' session, Nov. 3. Session aimed at giving the students and the public an opportunity to see candidates "close up,"said Dhirendrea Vajpeyi. Session will consist of a presentation by Nagle on the issue of the campaign, followed by a question ans answer period.
5 Northern Iowa's partner in education, Black Hawk Elementary School, to encourage voter turnout. Students at Black Hawk Elementary School will be releasing nearly 500 balloons in an attempt to encourage people to vote. Attached to the balloons will be a message encouraging people to vote.
