1 Dubuque student recieves Tom Beger Memorial Leadership Award. Bryan Steckel named recipient. The award was intiated by the Shull Hall resident assistant staff in 1983 in honor of Tom Beger who died of cancer.
2 Executive advisory council for University of Northern Iowa school of business to meet Friday (Dec. 9) on Cedar Falls campus. Paul Uselding has appointed 10 members to the council. The council will focus on strengthening placement efforts, student internship and co-op programs, recruitment of minorities for careers in business.
3 Second place sweepstakes win for University of Northern Iowa individual events team. At the University of Wisconsin, Stout Tournament, Venessa Kuhlmann, Ryan Siskow, Kevin Gilbertson, Aimee Simpson, Susan Bernau, Doug Staudt, Jim O'Connor, David Marchesani all place in the event.
4 Strong showing for University of Northern Iowa debaters at Butler Tournament. Twenty-two colleges and universities competed at Butler University in Indianapolis. UNI finish third.
5 Two UNI graduate students receive Stanley Butler Reeves Readings Scholarships. Alice Holdiman and Sandra Baade received the scholarship and both are master's candidates I reading education. Reeves, a retired school administrator and teacher from Clinton School District.
