1 During the Christmas season give the gift of life- blood. Blood is in high demand during the holiday season and summer months. Mari Lagerstrom says the population who are able to donate blood, only three percent become blood donors. College students provide a large percent of donated blood.
2 Feeding our feathered friends- enjoyment for us- survival for them. David Conrads says despite all of the fancy feeders on the market, birds seem to prefer a pan mounted in a post.
3 Home economics scholarships awarded to three University of Northern Iowa students. Recipents of the Nellie Dickey Scholarships are Christine Hoepfner, Denise Mente, and Terri Reif. Scholarships given by the faculty on the basis of high scholastic achievement as well as contributuions to departmental and University activities.
4 John Deere Waterloo Works donates two robots to Northern Iowa's Department of Industrial Technology. Abolghassem Tolu Honary says the robots will be much more educational since they were designed to be used in the industrial setting. Students with an emphasis in manufacturing will use the robot to learn about programming.

The two robots will be used by students at Northern Iowa studying manufacturing, and energy and power.

8 Three University of Northern Iowa students initiated into sociology honorary. New initiates into Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociological Honor Society are: Amy Jo Homan, Larry Underwood, and Marcia Hitchcock. Membership is in high scholarship and achievement in the field of sociological studies.
9 Will the economy take a downturn? Economists say positively maybe. Fred Abraham says there is no doubt that another recession will occur. Abraham and other economists says the years '90 to '92 appear to be likely "down' years.
