1 13th place finish for University of Northern Iowa individual events team at AFA national tournament. Venessa Kuhlmann advanced to quarterfinal competition in after dinner speaking. According to Sara Cornette the "race for the top" was very close, with only three points separating Northern Iowa from the 10th place team.
2 Northern Iowa's comedy club series to host Jim McHugh April 18. McHugh will be the final "Comedy Club" act of the spring semester. McHugh placed second in the national finals of Moosehead Beer's amateur comedy competition and was the Illinois finalist in Showtime's "Funniest Person in America" contest.
3 Ralph Nader, crusader for common man, to speak Tuesday (April 18) at Northern Iowa. Nader's address, "Student Activism: Past Present and in the '90's." Nader has built an effective national network of citizen action groups having a major impact on everything, from tax reform to nuclear energy.
4 The apparent disparity between regional consciousness in the south and Midwest is topic of last Northern Iowa history lecture, Wednesday (April 19.) Robert Martin will raise such questions as "what is regional consciousness and what factors contribute to it," and "how similar or dissimilar are the two sections of the nation?"
