1 'Lure of language' and 'keeping creative in creative writing' to be highlighted at 21st annual beginning reading conference Friday (April 28) at NI. Keynote address by Bill Martin one of America's outstanding teachers and educational leaders in the field of literacy development. Susan Pearson, who has edited both fiction and nonfiction for all ages groups, will also speak.
2 Children's author Susan Pearson to be visiting author at Northern Iowa's Price Lab school authors' celebration. Author of 13 children's picture books and an editor of fiction and nonfiction for all age groups. Pearson will talk with children individually about their writing and the work they have done at Price Lab School in authoring their own texts.
3 Northern Iowa's amnesty international to hold balloon release on Wednesday (April 26) for 'prisoners of conscience.' According to Michelle Wasson, public coordinator for the local chapter, this balloon release symbolizes the releasing of all unjustly imprisoned individuals. In each balloon will be the name of person known to be imprisoned for their beliefs.
