1	Conference for teaching talented and gifted underway at University of Northern Iowa.	List of participants in "CONTAG '89." Featured speakers are Miriam Adderholdt-Elliott, Annabeth Gish and Judith Gish. Sessions will address shattering myths about gifted children; mentors and mentoring; modeling intelligent behavior, and self esteem.
2	Regents approve new majors, administrative appointments, business for Northern Iowa.	New bachelor's degree majors in finance and management information systems were approved. Board also approved discontinuance of the office information systems major and the master's degree of major in translation and interpretation.
3	University of Northern Iowa criminology professors calls for review of Iowa's community based corrections system.	Building more prisons won't alleviate Iowa's prison overcrowding problem. Society needs to examine the basic issues which contribute to the skyrocketing numbers of convicted felons in the United States.
4	University of Northern Iowa plans first annual northwest Iowa gold outing Aug. 2.	University of Northern Iowa Athletic Club will sponsor its First Annual Northwest Iowa Golf Outing Aug. 2 at the Manson Country Club in Manson.
