1 Back to school tea. Forty alumni of UNI attended the tea, which was held in the UNI Education Center. Pauline Lindeman Lewman, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1938. Thomas Switzer, welcomed the group, and a tour of the Marshall Center School was conducted.
2 Back to school tea. Ethel Flora Swanson attended a "Back to School Tea" for retired school teachers who graduated from the University of Northern Iowa (formerly Iowa State Teachers College.)
3 Increase in new students pushes Northern Iowa fall enrollment over 1988 enrollment cap of 11,500. Freshmen enrollment is up 4.5 percent, transfers up 15.8 percent, and new graduate student enrollment is up 38.9 percent.
4 New director for University of Northern Iowa gallery of art plans to expand permanent collection, bring in expert speakers. Perry Nesbitt was named director of the UNI Gallery of Art. The challenge of supervising a permanent collection of art, and an energetic art faculty were two key factors that attracted Perry.
5 University of Northern Iowa home economist sheds some "lite" on misleading food packaging labels. "Light," or "lite," can mean any one of a half a dozen things when it's part of the packaging on a food or beverage product. The public is being misled to false security.
