1 'And the show must go on' as theatre UNI cleans up minor damage from Wednesday (Sept. 13) fire on stage floor. Jay Edelnant said rehearsal was held in the building Wednesday night, and the current production, William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," will open as scheduled Oct. 5.
2 "Get off the couch- and tell me all about it"; University of Northern Iowa geography lecturer also works as trained pet therapsit. Bonnie Sines is a trained pet therpist. She works primarily with dogs, and says most canine behavior problems stem from insecurity; the pet is not the sure of its position in the "pack" hierarchy of family.
3 Hazardous waste workshops for Iowa businesses to be offered throughout state by Iowa waste education center at University of Northern Iowa. The workshop will present information about the definition of hazardous waste, state regulations, types of facilities which generate hazardous waste, regulatory inspections, environmental liability, waste minimization and disposal options.
4 Seminar in special education to be held in Des Moines by the University of Northern Iowa. A course studying the current issues and trends in special education appropriate for leadership in special education.
5 University of Northern Iowa alumnus and president of international publishing company creates full-tuition scholarship at UNI in honor of his parents. Don Fruehling, president of the Maxwell Macmillan International Group, is a 1957 graduate of UNI. He has established the endowed scholarship fund in the name of his parents, Elma and Jesses Fruehling.
6 University of Northern Iowa parents' weekend Sept. 22-24; concert, open houses, football offered. Activities include opens houses, Parents' Coffee, a combined dance performance by UNI's Orchesis Groupe and Folk Dancers, and a special carillon concert at the Campanile.
