1 Black college students more likely than whites to migrate to institutions far from home, says University of Northern Iowa professor. Traditionally black colleges in the southern United States are more likely to draw their student from the northern states than are traditionally white institutions. Graphs and maps are included to support James F. Fryman's conclusion.
2 Eight hundred mathematics teacher will participate in 28th annual fall mathematics conference at University of Northern Iowa Friday (Sept. 22.) Keynote speaker is Jack Price, superintendent of Palos Verdes Peninsula School District in California. His address is titled "The Pendulum Cometh: Finding Time and Resources to Implement the New Standards."
3 New tropical rainforest enviromental issue workshop at Forest Lake near Bloomfield. Will provide background in the systems and issues of the rain forrest, as well as activities for use in teaching enviromental issues in the classroom.
4 Opening public debate presentation Friday (Sept. 22) morning to precede University of Northern Iowa college debate tournament Saturday through Monday. Veteran national tournament debaters from both the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Michigan will be featured in the first in this year's series of public debates.
