1 'New directions' focus for 9th school library conference Friday (Sept. 29) at University of Northern Iowa. A conference designed to assist library media specialists in planning for future technology for school library systems. The conference will focus on government documents, literature updates, computer programs, time management and publicity.
2 Course on "real power" offered by University of Northern Iowa and Hawkeye institute of technology Friday (Sept. 29.) Course to expand people's perception of power with a six-stage model of personal power in organizations. Participants will discover their place on the power model and explore internal vs. external power.
3 Distinguished visiting professor to discuss fostering undergraduate research in accounting at University of Northern Iowa Wednesday (Sept. 27.) Robert Jensen will speak at the University. Jensen's topic will be "Undergraduate Student Research Programs: Are They as Viable for Accounting as They Are in Science and Humanities?"
4 Hispanic heritage month at University of Northern Iowa to feature speakers Tuesday (Sep., 26) and Friday (Sept. 29.) "Hispanics in the Educational Work Force for the Year 2000: Students' Responsibility" will be presented by Rusty Barcelo. Mike Daniels will present "Southwinds: Understanding the Mexican Migration to America."
5 Third annual roadside vegetation management conference to be held Friday (Sept. 29) at the University of Northern Iowa. Focusing on promoting the use of Iowa's native grasses and flowers in roadsides will be co-sponsored by the University of Northern Iowa's Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management Program and the Association for Integrated Roadside Management.
