1	Iowa talented and gifted scholars conference set for Nov. 7 at University of Northern Iowa.	Discussions will cover topics of interest relating to personal and professional development in fields such as science, health, industrial technology, social work, communications and politics.
2	New Iowa law may boost composting, says director of Iowa waste reduction center at University of Northern Iowa.	By 1991 Iowa law will prohibit dumping leaves and yard waste in landfills. Compost is a nutrient-rich mixture of grass clippings, leaves, fruit, vegetable peelings, egg shell, ash and other household wastes. To a gardener, compost is as good as gold.
3	University of Northern Iowa professor studies chemical residues in foods.	When research shows a chemical is dangerous to human health, it may be banned from use. But that chemical doesn't just disappear. It can enter our foods chain and show up in products we eat for dozens, even hundreds of years.
4	University of Northern Iowa's journal of student research and writing, 'draftings,' presents two new volumes.	"Drafting in Economics: Major Themes," and "Draftings in Interactive Reading," encompassing nine student essays, were published recently at the University of Northern Iowa. The issues are the first and second to be published as the fourth volume.
