1	'The Japan Connection' to be explored April 12 & 17 in joint program at University of Northern Iowa and Center for Asian and Pacific Studies	Professors Jonathan Lu, Ian Gladding, Ernest Raiklin, Dale Braynard, and Tom Rohlich participate in a joint forum between UNI and the University of Iowa on American business relations with Japanese companies.
2	For fourth consecutive year, University of Northern Iowa qualifies second team for national debate tournament	Dan Janssen, Jon Morphew, Aaron Hawbaker, and Ken Schuler qualify for participation in the National Debate Tournament. The duos are accompanied by Professor William Henderson.
3	Scholarships available to women from University of Northern Iowa Dames	Applications are available for the University Dames Scholarship Program. Scholarships are awarded to women according to need and ability through the Counseling Program for Adult Students. A letter of recommendation is required.
4	Second place for University of Northern Iowa individual events speech team in Missouri tourney	Professor Bruce Wickelgren accompanies the individual events team in their second place finish at the Northeast Missouri State University Tournament. Students competed in poetic and prose interpretation, informative speaking, and communication analysis.
5	Winners of student essay contest for Black History Month announced at Northern Iowa	Susan Hanna and Chante Roberts win the Black Support Network's Black History Month essay contest. Hanna is an active member of Tomahawk, and the Artists Series committee. Roberts is a member of the Union Policy Board, and Gospel Choir.
