2	How do we dispose of infectious waste? A growing problem.	John Konefes directs the Iowa Waste Reduction Center, working with local businesses to find efficient ways of disposing of infectious waste.
3	Latest health fad out of control -- have you had your cholesterol checked?	Barbara Krieg, Assistant Director of Northern Iowa's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, conducts research on blood cholesterol screening processes.
4	Pioneering University of Northern Iowa program recruits minority students into teaching	Professor Richard Strub coordinates the Minorities in Education program, which seeks to recruit minority students from sixth through twelfth grade into the field of education. Students who complete the program will be given priority in IMAGES grants.
5	Sexism in the classroom -- part of "hidden curriculum."	Professor Dianna Briggs urges educators to be more aware of sexist messages in the classroom. She suggests that teachers use both male and female role models in classroom discussions.
6	Speaker on self-esteem to visit area schools April 10, 11: Co-sponsored by University of Northern Iowa and local agencies	Laurie Stewart visits with intermediate and junior high students for the PREPARE III teen-pregnancy prevention program. The project is co-directed by Professors Mary Franken and Cheryl Budlong through the Iowa Department of Human Services.
7	Therapeutic massage and wellness course to be offered at the University of Northern Iowa through April	Ralph and Harriet Goodman instruct a course on therapeutic massage in the Communication Arts Center. The course does not require previous experience, and does not prepare students for careers as professional massage therapists.
8	University of Northern Iowa to offer economic development seminar in Iowa City Thursday (April 5)	The Management Development Center sponsors the Basic Concepts of Preparing for the Prospect program at the Highlander Inn. Program instructors will be members of the Professional Developers of Iowa.
9	Want to start a new business? Check into the SBDC at Northern Iowa	David Wheelock directs the Small Business Development Center, which offers consulting and counseling to individuals seeking to start a small business, or expand an existing one.
10	Workshop to broaden elementary and middle school counseling programs to be held Monday (April 2) by University of Northern Iowa	The Departments of Teaching and Educational Administration and Counseling, and the Office of Continuing Education and Special Programs co-sponsor a workshop for elementary and middle school counselors and administrators.
