1 'Teaching Geography Workshop' to be held April 16 at University of Northern Iowa Professor Dennis Spetz replaces Michael Stacy as speaker in the Teaching Geography Workshop. President Constantine Curris and Professor Cordell Svengalis welcome participants to the workshop.
2 Biology graduate student at Northern Iowa pursuing research on arterial disease Todd Hixson studies arterial disease prevention under Doctor Mohammad Islami for his master's thesis. Hixson works closely with professors from the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation for his practicum project.
3 New Honorary members inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa at Northern Iowa The Omicron Delta Kappa academic and leadership society inducts twenty-three members into the organization, including two faculty members. The initiation is held in the Commons Ballroom. New members listed.
4 Northern Iowa sophomore's triumph over handicap results in national contest win Michelle Holdorf wins the "In View" magazine essay competition. She was selected for her use of humor in writing of the difficulties that she has faced having been born with one limb. Holdorf active as both a peer counselor and member of Tomahawk.
5 Reception (Monday) April 9 in Cedar Rapids for students admitted to University of Northern Iowa Lori Culbertson, Deb Vangellow, Paul Felix, Katherine Marie Oppedahl, and Professor Ken Jacobsen participate in an orientation at the Sheraton Inn covering financial aid and campus.
6 Reception (Tuesday) April 10 in Davenport for students admitted to University of Northern Iowa Michelle Hyde, Sam Barr, Ann Louise Oatman, and Lori Culbertson participate in the a financial aid orientation meeting at the Davenport River Center. The program is meant specifically for students enrolled for the 1990 fall semester.
7 Reception (Wednesday) April 11 in Dubuque for students admitted to University of Northern Iowa Lisa Schoenauer, Renee Romano, Sam Barr, and Karen Agee speak at a financial aid orientation meeting in Dubuque. The orientation is designed specifically for new students enrolled for the 1990 fall semester, but is open to all prospective students.
8 University of Northern Iowa P. E. Club sponsoring 'Governor's Run for Heart' Friday and Saturday (April 5-7) Governor Terry Branstad joins runners for the final mile of the Governor's Run for Heart, sponsored by the Physical Education Club. The goal of the event is to raise twenty-five hundred dollars for the American Heart Association.
