2 Images of alcohol in advertising will be topic of nationally-known speaker at University of Northern Iowa Tuesday (April 17) Professor Jean Kilbourne speaks in Maucker Union on alcohol advertising. The presentation will cover media censorship, alcoholism, and the effects of advertising on viewers. The program is sponsored by the Speakers Committee and the Student Government.
3 Outstanding performance award to University of Northern Iowa's Jazz Band I at Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival Jazz Band I, directed by Professor Robert Washut, recieves an outsanding performance award a the Collegiate Jazz Festival of Notre Dame. Drummer, Scott Hidester, was also a recipient of the award. Band members listed.
4 Price Lab School summer session registration to be Thursday (April 19) Summer session registration for Price Laboratory School begins for parents with children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Programs will cover literature, social studies, music, vocabulary, and physical education.
5 University of Northern Iowa four-year art scholarship recipients named Four high schoolers are granted four-year Department of Art scholarships at the Scholarship Day competition. Recipients include Jennifer Bervin, Hester Dean, Daniel Schrad, and Anna Waterman.
6 Youth book collection at Northern Iowa library helping future teachers Lucille Lettow describes her role as a Youth Collection librarian for the largest collection of youth literature in a university library statewide. Lettow defends elementary libraries from censorship, as well as helping education majors in their research.
