1 Education majors at the University of Northern Iowa receive scholarships. List of twenty-five recipients of the College of Education Scholarships. The awards were based primarily on academic achievement and/or financial need.
2 First meeting held for University of Northern Iowa's broadcast division citizens advisory board. List of students and organizations selected to serve on the advisory board, whose purpose is to provide input to the Northern Iowa Broadcast Division on how educators can continue to meet the changing needs of the electronic media industry.
3 Scientist who discovered planet Pluto to speak Wednesday (May 2) at University of Northern Iowa. Clyde Tombaugh, the only person now living to have discovered a planet, will speak on the "Discovery of the Planet Pluto." His presentation will include a discussion of the process and equipment used to find the ninth planet.
4 Two courses for elementary teachers to be offered in Montezuma by the University of Northern Iowa. A music workshop is designed to assist teacher with the young voice, the sequencing of music concepts and in getting more music from teaching materials. A reading and writing workshop will be offered.
5 University of Northern Iowa senior from Reinbeck receives reading scholarship. Holly Witt recently was named 1990 recipient of the Julia Sparrow Scholarship. The scholarship is based on exceptional performance on coursework and program activities in reading, and on academic achievement.
6 University of Northern Iowa simulation gaming association to present 'lost world 4' convention Saturday (April 28).
7 University of Northern Iowa simulation gaming association to present 'lost worlds 4' convention Saturday (April 28). Players will cover games ranging from war simulations to fantasy role-playing to science fiction combat. The Northern Iowa Simulation Gaming Association's purpose is to provide University student gamers with an official organization.
