1 Active kids camp at Northern Iowa- sports camp season begins. Pat Beck, says the All Sports Camp will begin this week with specialty camps to follow in the coming weeks. Sports camps area great place for kids with similar interests and abilities to compete with others in their same age bracket.
2 Laid-back learning for those over 60- Elderhostel. For people over 60, the nationwide Elderhostel program is a great way to take a learning vacation. Held on college campuses across the United States, Elderhostel programs are inexpensive ways to learn, see the country, and meet people all over the nation.
3 Managing personal change without stress- these are difficult times. Jane Richards says physical activity and taking a different approach to daily challenges can help people deal with personal change, and prevent people from feeling burnt-out.
4 Recycling deadlines and guidelines- will businesses be able to comply? A recent survey completed by the Iowa City business owners believe they will be able to cut down on their solid waste and recycle more. John Konefes says landfill disposal costs are expected to double and could possibly triple.
5 Wellness practices put into use- cut medical costs and lengthen lives. Tom Davis is an organizer of the state-wide Lakeshore Wellness conference, and says it's so effective because those who attend are required to come as part of a "team," and complete a plan of action for their workplace.
