2 UNI Honors Student Advisory Board brings AIDS Memorial Quilt to campus, Oct. 21 and 22 Ten blocks of the quilt, each 12 feet by 12 feet, will be on display in the Maucker Union Ballroom. The quilt, founded in 1987, is the largest ongoing community arts project in the world. The quilt memorializes the lives of victims of AIDS.
3 UNI senior to compete in national 'Elevator Pitch' competition Tyson Hanish, from New York, N. Y., won the UNI Elevator Pitch competition to move to this next level at the national conference in Chicago. Mark Watje, a junior marketing: management major from Cedar Falls, is the alternate for UNI.
4 UNI's Velasco wins worldwide flute competition Daniel Velasco, received first prize and a cash award of $5,000 at the 36th Annual USA's National Flute Association's Young Artist Competition, open to flutists worldwide who are age 30 and under. Velasco, is a flutist from Quito, Ecuador.
