1 'How gender shapes social relations' topic for UNI guest speaker Friday, Nov. 14 The campus was chosen as one of two campuses in the nation to host the 2008 Sociologists for Women in Society Distinguished Feminists Lecturer. Cecelia Ridgeway, will lecture on the topic, "Framed before we know it: how gender shapes social relations."
2 UNI Concert Band presents 'Fall Concert' with the New Horizons Band Nov. 12 S. Daniel Galyen, assistant professor in the UNI School of Music, directed the Concert Band in its performance. The NHB is compiled of musicians ages 50 and over. The band began in 1999 with 17 members, and has a current membership of more than 70.
3 UNI executive vice president and provost search narrows to four candidates
Third candidate to be on campus Nov. 13 and 14
Hector Flores, dean and professor of biology in the College of Science at Texas State University in San Marcos, will be interviewed in a two-day process. This will include meetings with students, faculty, and staff and a question-and-answer session.
4 UNI folk and ballroom dancers host Fall Ballroom Dance, Sunday, Nov. 16 Members of the group practice multicultural and ballroom dance moves during evenings throughout the week. The UNI Folk and Ballroom Dancers is the parent organization to the UNI International Dance Theatre and the UNI Swing Club.
5 UNI to hold informational session on elementary education degree programs Attendees at the Nov. 19 session will learn about a UNI B. A. degree in elementary education with the option of an early childhood education endorsement or a double major in middle-level education.
