1 'Amelia Bedelia' coming to UNI as reading conference celebrates 40 years Herman Parish, will share his adventures carrying on the misadventures of "Amelia Bedelia," the beloved children's series created by his aunt, Peggy Parish, in 1963. Herman has added 14 books to the seriew, including "Amelia Bedelia, Bookworm."
2 Future of citizen participation in the United States topic for UNI public policy conference Mobilizing and Motivating Citizen Action" will feature an address by Thomas Patterson of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Harry Boyte of the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota will speak later.
3 Sustainable agriculture leader discusses key agriculture, environment issues Wes Jackson, president of The Land Institute and an international leader in the sustainable agriculture movement, will discuss "The 50 Year Farm Bill." He will look at key ideas in agriculture as well as environmental studies.
4 UNI hosts CSBS Student Research Conference. According to Helen Harton, professor of psychology and conference chair, the event provides an avenue for students' professional development. It provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to exchange ideas.
5 UNI Interpreters Theatre presents 'Sex Across the Curriculum' It is a one-woman show by writer, director and guest artist Jennifer Tuder, a 1996 bachelors degree graduate of the College in theatre arts. Tuder plays a disgruntled high school sex education teacher who throws the abstinence curriculum out the window.
6 UNI students awarded more than one million dollars in educational awards Since 2006, some 751 students at the College who have participated in the Camp Adventure Youth Services program have earned money in funding through AmeriCorps ProCorps. The students are recognized for the service they provide.
