1 National Playground Safety Week April 20 - 24 Encouraging people to do a better job of playground planning is the focus for the NPPS. To assist in that effort, there is a new book out, "Building Playgrounds: A Guide to the Planning Process."
2 Register now for UNI workshop on behavioral interviewing techniques
Enrollment deadline is May 4
The workshop "Are You the One for Me? Behavioral Interviewing Techniques," is designed for workshop participants to identify common faults of interviewing practices. It will identify which questions should be asked during an interview based on the job.
3 Register now for UNI workshop on the skills and practices of successful managers
Enrollment deadline is May 4
Mary Richardson will present "Sharpen Your Saw: Skills and Practices of Successful Managers. Participants will define a successful manager, discover best practices of successful managers, and learn how to be proactive instead of reactive.
4 UNI "e-Bike" provides energy efficiency awareness The project aims to utilize a number of renewable energy based hands-on projects to promote mathematics and science in the classroom. The "d-Bike" came from the senior design project of Patrick Dehn, a Waverly resident and 2008 graduate.
5 UNI hosts Bash the Trash event A group of sophomore Presidential Scholars will the event. Scholars participate in this two-credit hour course for the academic year. The year-long program includes a "Think Tank' seminar in the fall.
6 UNI to host Cinco De Mayo celebration Entertainment will include mariachi music and live entertainment by Anita Tanguma. Cinco de Mayo is the commemoration of Mexico's defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla, May 5, 1862.
7 UNI to host Postville Conference/Teach-in Luis Argueta, a Gautemalan film director, will screen segments of his documentary "AbUSed" The Post ville Raid. There will be a showing of the play "Historia de nuestra vidas," detailing accounts of immigration, imprisonment and the Postville raid.
