1 Register now for UNI workshop focused on handling negativity in the workplace; Enrollment deadline is March 19 The workshop, "How to Manage Nests of Negativity," will help participants learn how to identify and confront employees who are never satisfied, frequently complain and are vicious with their words and accusations. Vickie Robinson will lead the workshop.
2 UNI biology professor looks at ways to reduce flooding in Iowa Laura Jackson, professor of biology, discusses flooding and land-use change trends in a chapter of "A Watershed Year: Anatomy of the Iowa Floods of 2008." A chapter of the book is co-authored by Dennis Keeney, emeritus professor at Iowa State University.
3 UNI Gallery of Art to present 'Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition' and juror's lecture The competition showcases outstanding recent works by students in the Kamerick Art Building. According to Darrell Taylor, director of the Gallery of Art, "We've had a number of students who've gone on to national and international careers."
4 UNI hosts FAIR reporter and author Peter Hart Peter Hart, activism director from Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) will discuss media bias and censorship and the various forces that influence and shape the news media at Lang Hall Auditorium. "How Does Media Reporting Affect Citizenship?"
5 UNI Museums to host program on coffeehouse culture Joanie Shafer will discuss her study on the social norms of coffee culture at a local coffee shop and inform participants how a particular environment can affect the persons residing within it.
