1 Help UNI 'Make Cancer Walk the Plank' UNI is hosting a Relay for Life event to raise money for the American Cancer Society, and is hoping for 1,500 participants this year from faculty, student body, and the Cedar Valley community.
2 Microenterprise grants available to support Waterloo small businesses The goal of this grant program is to provide new small business owners with the necessary knowledge, skills and education to establish and maintain a prosperous business.
3 Presentation at UNI on ecological restoration of native lands Carter Johnson will discuss the commercial opportunities of converted cropland in "South Dakota's Prairie Farm: An Experiment in Economic and Ecological Sustainability." Johnson will explore the EcoSun Prairie Farms Project, which is a 640-acre farm.
4 Register now for UNI workshop on keeping employees happy and motivated; Enrollment deadline is April 15 Workshop participants will learn how to maintain and improve employee morale in both good and difficult times. They will be introduced to advanced principles of motivation, and develop and utilize strategies that will best fit their direct reports.
5 UNI's IWRC hosts workshop on new EPA rule for bulk gasoline plants in Cedar Falls The EPA has created a new national emission standard for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) for bulk gasoline plants in order to reduce the emission of hazardous pollutants into the environment. A series of eight workshops will run through April.
