Baldus--Rachel (Student--2013) 		Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a recurrent depression that occurs usually during the winter months. SAD is characterized by depressed moods, lack of energy, and social withdrawal. Light therapy is the most common way to held people with SAD.
2 Gas tax stalls in Iowa legislature before starting
Prigeon--Correy Travis (Student--2013) 		The proposed Iowa gas tax would be used by the Department of Transportation to fix roadways and bridges. Many road projects are not receiving funding, and the tax may fix this problem. Some fear that the tax could have a negative impact in this economy.
3 UNI dishes up altruism On Martin Luther King Jr. Day over 170 students gathered in Maucker Union to serve the Cedar Valley. The Service and Leadership Council hosted the day of service where students packaged meals for local families in need; photo.

Aune--Jordan Lee (Student--2013) 		The Collegiate Readership Program at UNI was created by Chris Miller and is funded by the Northern Iowa Student Government. This program allows students to keep up on current events and educate themselves through reading the paper.

7 Panthers upset Oklahoma 19-17
Bemis--Jacob Harry (Student--2011) 		UNI wrestling defeated the University of Oklahoma, 19-17. The Panthers are now 6-0 in dual meets this season. UNI will battle the University of Missouri for first place in the Mid-American Conference Friday, January 24, in Cedar Falls.
8 UNI gets 500th win
Keiser--Erin Rose (Student--2012) 		Panthers women's basketball split their games over the weekend. They lost to Wichita State University, 80-47, but were able to rally and beat Missouri State University a few days later, 68-60. Next the panthers will take on Bradley University; photo.
