Shutdown ends; faculty research up in the air The government shutdown has affected faculty research at UNI. Funding was unavailable during the government shutdown as were as all of the federally-managed websites and services. Faculty hope that things will return to the pre-shutdown state quickly.
McMillian gives food for thought Tracie McMillan, author of "The American Way of Eating: Undercover at Wal-Mart, Applebee's, Farm Fields and the Dinner Table", spoke about American eating habits. Professor Weedman adapted the book into a play that was performed for McMillian; photo.
Another dimension comes to UNI UNI owns the biggest 3-D printer in Iowa. The printer cost $1.5 million to purchase. The printer's primary use will be to create molds for the Metal Casting Center, but the art department may be using it for sculptures as well; photo.
