UNI drops four of five in Northern Colorado tournament UNI softball competed in five games in Greely, Colorado. On day one, they lost their first game to Nebraska-Omaha, and their second game to Utah Valley, 9-0. On day two, they lost their first game to Northern Colorado, 4-2, Nebraska-Omaha 3-1, and won their final game against Utah Valley 4-1. They are now 7-14 overall on the season; photo.
Panthers finish third in Big 12 Championships The men's wrestling team competed in the Big 12 Conference Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and finished third overall behind Oklahoma State and Iowa State. Individual wrestlers who performed well in their classes included Taylor Lujan, second overall; Bryce Steirt, second overall; Max Thomsen, sixth overall; Michael Blockhus, sixth overall; and Jay Schwarm, fourth overall. Schwarm, Steiert, Lujan, Thomsen, and Blockhus will advance to the NCAA championship; photos.
UNI defeats Drake, looks ahead to MVC tourney The UNI women's basketball team defeated Drake University, 91-78, in the McLeod Center on March 6 during their last game of the regular season. It was also senior night, and UNI honored Rose Simon-Ressler, Heidi Hillyard, Abby Gerrits, and Kristina Cavey. The team is now 10-8 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). This is the first time in school history UNI has defeated Iowa, Iowa State, and Drake in the same season; photo.
