1	'Getting Covered' highlights benefits of Affordable Care Act	New legislation allows students to remain on their parents insurance until age 26. The act also prevents insurance companies from cutting off coverage due to illness of high medical cost. The seminar was well received.

1	Variety of musical groups perform at scholarship concert	This was the 30th year of the concert. Music filled the air from drums to harps and a symphony. A champagne and hors d'oeuvres reception followed the concert. Organizers called the concert a success.

3	Marriage equality is at risk	With the appointment of Swati Dandekar, her senate spot is up for a special election. Liz Mathis is the Democratic candidate. If you wins the Democrats will hold the majority in the Iowa Senate.
4	Contest winner 'pops it forward' at UNI	Facebook contest winner, Karelyn Pohl, shared her winnings with students. Inflatable structures and Pop-Tart shakes were major hits with everyone. Five thousand Pop-Tarts were donated to UNI; photo.
4	Scholarship benefit concert controversy	Students suggest that the cost of tickets to the concert be reduced for students from the present fee of $50.00. John Vallentine responds that the concert is not advertised to students. They would be paying for their own scholarships.
6	Panthers extend regular season MVC winning streak to 40	Volleyball team has won forty straight matches in the conference. Recent victories over Illinois State and Indiana State added to the total wins; photo.
6	Rennie's five touchdowns lead No. 2 UNI to 38-10 victory over WIU	Football team defeats Western Illinois in the first conference game of the season before a crowd of just over 16,000; photo.
