1 UNI requests more funding for athletics from students: Athletics hopes to reduce reliance on general fund UNI is requesting the approval of the Board of Regents in raising the student services fee by $25. This would allow the athletic department to reduce their reliance on the general education fund.
1 New course offered as alternative to Personal Wellness UNI is now offering an alternative to the Personal Wellness class. Students are now given the option to take, Dimensions of Well-Being, including both lecture and lab portions. Some students feel that including a lab will enhance their education.
2 UNI and Luther professors untangle evolution and religion UNI hosted a discussion about how evolution undermines religion. Jerry Soneson and Loyal Rue headed the discussion. Not all students agreed with the professors opinions and this was reflected in the question and answer session.
3 Creativity and open-mindedness imperative in science The author explains that it takes an open-mind and creativity to study science successfully. Students need to look at observations and try to come of with a solution or discover the reason why things react the way they do.
3 Letter to the editor The author responds to the T-shirt exchange program that allows students to exchange a T-shirt from the University of Iowa or Iowa State University for a University of Northern Iowa one. She feels that this is a great way to promote school spirit; photo.

4 Trick or treat brings children to campus Many families and children attended the Residence Hall Association's trick or treat event. Students in residence halls handed out candy and had Halloween games for children to play; photo.
4 'Ender's Game' full of powerful messages Author reviews the film "Ender's Game" based on the Orson Scott Card novel. The movie takes place in a futuristic society with Earth under alien attack. There is a strong theme of loving one's enemy throughout the film.
6 Panthers drop 5th straight UNI football lost to Illinois State University 13-3, making it their fifth straight loss. Both David Johnson and Sawyer Kollmorgen left the game in the first half due to injury. The Panthers hope for their first conference win against Youngstown; photo.
6 UNI wins in straight sets over Drake Panther Volleyball defeated Drake University in three sets. This was UNI's seventh sweep of the season. Next the Panthers will take on Southern Illinois University and Evansville University; photo.
6 MVC fights for spots in Big Dance With the loss of Creighton University in the Missouri Valley Conference and the addition of Loyola University it will be hard to convince the NCAA tournament selection committee to continue to allow three teams from the MVC into the tournament.
