Iowa prairie heritage week Sept. 10-16 to include dedication of new prairie area.

Daryl Smith, says Iowa deserves the title of tall grass prairie state, since before settlement, over 85 percent of the state was this type of prairie. Only a few small patches of original prairie remain, but efforts are being made to recreate lost acres.
